Parquet Floor Restoration at The Friary, Alnmouth

Project Overview
This project involved restoring the existing parquet flooring at The Friary in Alnmouth.
Years of use had left the surface looking worn and tired, but the original parquet itself remained well worth retaining. The aim was to restore the floor rather than replace it, bringing the timber back to a cleaner and more consistent appearance while preserving the character of the existing blocks.

The Restoration
The existing parquet floor was professionally sanded to remove the worn surface and old finish, exposing the natural colour and variation within the timber blocks.
Care was taken to work evenly across the parquet and around the edges of the room so the floor could be refinished as one consistent surface while retaining the original pattern and character of the installation.

Finished Floor
Once refinished, the parquet had a much cleaner and more consistent appearance while the natural variation between the individual timber blocks remained visible.
The floor was finished with a 2K commercial lacquer in a matt satin sheen, providing a durable protective surface suited to continued use within the building while keeping the overall appearance natural and understated.
